Booker T & The MG's Vinyl Records

Booker T & The MG's were an American instrumental soul/R&B band, active from 1962 to 1971. The band's core members were Booker T. Jones (organ, piano), Steve Cropper (guitar), Lewie Steinberg (bass) and Al Jackson, Jr. (drums). They are best known for their instrumental hits "Green Onions" and "Time Is Tight", as well as their many contributions to the Stax Records catalogue.

Booker T & The MG's released four studio albums during their time together: Green Onions (1962), Soul Dressing (1965), Melting Pot (1971) and Universal Language (1977). Their most successful single was "Green Onions", which peaked at No. 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999. Other notable songs include "Time Is Tight", "Hip Hug-Her" and "Soul Limbo".

An interesting fact about Booker T & The MG's is that they were the first house band for Stax Records, and were responsible for playing on countless classic soul records. They were also the first all-black band to perform on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1967.
