Archie Shepp Vinyl Records
Archie Shepp is an American jazz saxophonist, composer, and educator who has been playing and producing jazz music for over 60 years. His career started in the early 1960s when he signed with Impulse! Records and released his debut album, Archie Shepp - Bill Dixon Quartet. Since then, he has released over 50 albums and has collaborated with some of the biggest names in jazz music, including Max Roach, Cecil Taylor, and McCoy Tyner.
Some of Shepp's standout albums include Fire Music (1965), Attica Blues (1972), and The Cry of My People (1973). His most popular songs include “Blues for Brother George Jackson,” “Mama Too Tight,” “On This Night,” and “The Way Ahead.”
An interesting fact about Archie Shepp is that he is an activist for civil rights. He was heavily influenced by the civil rights movement and wrote a number of songs about it, including "Blues for Brother George Jackson" and "Attica Blues." He has also been a long-time advocate for black liberation and is a member of the Black Arts Movement.
