Antonio Vivaldi (1678–1741) was an Italian Baroque composer, violinist, and priest. He is one of the most renowned composers of the Baroque period, and is known for his operas, concertos, and sacred vocal music. Vivaldi's works are some of the most popular music of the Baroque period and are still performed today.
Vivaldi's best-known works include his concertos, The Four Seasons, and his sacred vocal works, including the Gloria and the Magnificat. His operas, including Orlando furioso, Ercole sul Termodonte, and La fida ninfa, were all highly successful in their day.
Vivaldi's most famous album is his collection of concertos, The Four Seasons, which features four violin concertos that depict the changing of the seasons. Other standout albums include La stravaganza, a collection of twelve violin concertos, and Juditha Triumphans, a sacred work for orchestra, choir, and soloists.
An interesting fact about Vivaldi is that he wrote nearly 500 concertos, including concertos for many instruments such as the violin, oboe, recorder, and cello.
