Classics is a compilation album by Aphex Twin, released in 1995 on the R&S Records sub-label Apollo. It gathers some of Richard D. James’s earliest material from the early 1990s, including Digeridoo, Polynomial-C, selections from Analogue Bubblebath and the complete Didgeridoo EP. The release highlights his formative years, when he was creating tracks for the underground rave and techno scenes that blended relentless beats with inventive sound design.
The record captures James at his most direct and club-driven, full of pounding acid lines, hypnotic rhythms and distorted textures that set the stage for his later experimental and ambient work. It remains both a time capsule of early UK techno and a key part of Aphex Twin’s legacy, showing how he forged a sound that was simultaneously raw, playful and forward-thinking.
