Twelve-Tone
Twelve-tone, or dodecaphonic, music is a form of atonal composition developed by Austrian composer Arnold Schoenberg in the early 20th century. It is based on the use of all twelve pitches of the chromatic scale, arranged into a tone row. This tone row can then be manipulated in various ways to create a variety of musical forms. It is considered an important innovation in modern music, and has been widely influential on many composers since its inception.
