Phineas Newborn Jr. Vinyl Records

Phineas Newborn Jr. was a renowned jazz pianist from Memphis, Tennessee. He was the son of blues guitarist Phineas Newborn Sr. and was born in 1931. He was known for his technical prowess and for his hard-driving, blues-infused jazz improvisations. Newborn released several albums throughout his career, including his debut album, Here Is Phineas, in 1957, and several other albums with jazz groups and orchestras, such as Jazz Portraits, Phineas’ Rainbow and The Great Jazz Piano of Phineas Newborn Jr. His most acclaimed album is the 1961 solo piano record, A World of Piano! Notable songs by Newborn include "Be My Love," "Blues After Hours," "Cherokee" and "Groovin' High." An interesting fact about Newborn is that he was a musical prodigy and was able to read music at the age of three.
