  • Jackson C. Frank was one of the greatest talents of the US folk scene of the 60s. However, due to illness and personal setbacks, his debut album from 1965 remained his only legacy to posterity.

The self-titled work was recorded in just three hours at CBS Studios in London. Due to Frank's nervousness and shyness, a screen had to be erected to shield him from the gaze of those present. His patrons included Al Stewart, Art Garfunkel and Paul Simon, who also produced the album. Jackson C. Frank's further life was marked by personal setbacks. First he suffered from depression and writer's block, later he was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. For a while he lived on the street, then in 1999 Jackson C. Frank died at the age of 56. His fans included and still include Nick Drake, John Mayer, Laura Marling and the Fleet Foxes.
