  • he debut album of Father John Misty was a first respectable success for the current singer / songwriter / alternative folk / indie country superstar in 2012 Shortly after it became known in 2011 that Fleet Foxes drummer Josh Tillman was leaving the band, another interesting announcement made the rounds; after a multitude of releases under his civil name, the new album "Fear Fun" follows at the end of April, this time under the stage name Father John Misty, which illustrates Tillman's further musical development.

This step is not a bad idea, because even without his colleagues, Tillmann knows how to create heavenly neo-folk with lush arrangements and hearty hippie flair. However, he has not become a completely different musician. Besides folky singer-songwriter structures, pastoral-choral vocals still remind one of Robin Pecknold and Fleet Foxes, for example in "Only son of the ladiesman" or "Funtimes in Babylon". But for the most part, Tillman has developed further and added a lot of country and blues to "Fear fun", with the Beatles and Gram Parsons, and with little hits.

Those who love the Fleet Foxes will wallow in songs like "Nancy From Now On" and "Only Son Of The Ladies Man". The album was recorded in February 2011 in L.A. with producer, songwriter and friend Jonathan Wilson. Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, Built To Spill, Modest Mouse) was immediately enthusiastic about the recordings and offered to mix the new material.
