Matthew Sweet is an American rock singer, songwriter and musician. He was part of the burgeoning music scene in Georgia during the 1980s, and his commercial breakthrough came in the 1990s. In 1991 he released "Girlfriend", the pop-rock album that was to be his biggest success. It sold extremely fast, the title track made it into the top 10 of the American charts.
