Sister Nancy – One, Two

One, Two is the 1982 debut studio album by Jamaican dancehall pioneer Sister Nancy. Produced by Winston Riley and recorded at Channel One Studios in Kingston, the album features ten tracks including her defining anthem “Bam Bam.” The record showcases a mix of rub-a-dub, reggae and early dancehall rhythms, supported by top tier session musicians like Sly & Robbie, Ansel Collins, Lincoln "Style" Scott and others. Sister Nancy’s lyrical delivery is bold, confident and often confronts gender norms, asserting her place in a scene that was heavily male-dominated.

Over time, One, Two has come to be regarded as a cornerstone of dancehall reggae, largely due to its influence and the sheer longevity of “Bam Bam,” which has been sampled widely across genres and remains broadly recognised outside Jamaica.
