With his successful album "The Epic", Kamasi Washington brought spiritual jazz back into the focus of many jazz connoisseurs, fans and, last but not least, critics. The album was heavily influenced by the symphonic, spiritual jazz of the early 1970s: Joe Henderson, Alice Coltrane, Joe Chambers, Roy Brooks and Oliver Nelson.
