From the garage into the heart of the independent community: In 1979 Paul Westerberg, Chris Mars, Tommy Stinson and his brother Bob Stinson began to maltreat their instruments in a garage in Minnesota, only a year later they had their first record deal in the bag: the now cult label Twin / Tone from Minneapolis signed the Replacemants virtually from the stage and released three albums and an EP until 1984. All four discs were then released in August 2015 in a 4-LP box entitled The Twin / Tone Years! The albums had not been available in vinyl format for two decades prior to this. The package included Sorry, Ma, Forgot To Take Out The Trash (1981), the EP Stink (1982) and the albums Hootenanny (1983) and Let It Be (1984), with which they gave shape at the time to what later became a genre of its own as alternative rock.
