  • The new album, the first of the recognized trio of Brownstein, vocalist / guitarist Corin Tucker and drummer Janet Weiss, which in the Exploded out into the world out of the Pacific Northwest's Riot Grrl scene in the 1990s, setting a new bar for punk political insights and emotional clout.

Founded in 1994 in Olympia, Washington, Sleater-Kinney by Greil Marcus was named America's best rock band in Time Magazine and released seven albums in ten years before announcing an indefinite hiatus in 2006. But the new album is not about old memories, but about reinvention; the rediscovery of a unique chemistry in which new sounds are discovered and new stories are told. "Corin and Carrie are still musical soulmates in the tradition of the greats," explains Weiss, whose drums fuel the fire of the vocal and guitar dialogue between Brownstein and Tucker. "Something in this pause has made them grow closer together, desperately looking for the only counterpart that will make the expression true."

"At the core of this album is our relationship to one another, to the music and how we still felt enough for this band to sweat in the basement and reinvent our band!" - Corin Tucker
