Issued in 1979, the album shows the Japanese saxophonist working at the intersection of jazz, funk and Afro-Cuban influence, a blend that helped make his music accessible without losing its improvisational edge. Watanabe’s warm tenor sound and lyrical phrasing give the record its identity, while the title piece and set-flowing originals underline his gift for elegant, groove-led composition. It stands as one of the key albums in his international-facing catalogue.

Artist: Sadao Watanabe

Label: Flying Disk – VIJ-6018

Format: LP, Album, Stereo

Units: 1

Country: Japan

Released: 1979

Genre:
          Jazz

Style:

            Afro-Cuban Jazz,

            Jazz-Funk,

            Smooth Jazz

A1 Morning Island
A2 Down East
A3 Serenade
A4 We Are The One
B1 Home Meeting
B2 Petit Valse Pour Sadao
B3 Samba Do Marcos
B4 Inner Embrace
