Recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra and first issued in 1971, the work helped bring Shankar’s artistry to a wider classical audience while showing how non-Western instruments could be framed in a concert setting without losing identity. Previn’s orchestral writing gives the solo line space and tension, and the result is one of the most distinctive cross-cultural concert works of its era, balancing structure, improvisation and lyrical intensity.

Artist: Ravi Shankar, André Previn, London Symphony Orchestra

Label: Angel Records – SFO-36806

Format: LP, Album, Stereo

Units: 1

Country: US

Released: 1971

Genre:
          Classical

Style:

            Indian Classical,

            Modern

I.
