Issued in 1976, it continued Sangster’s major multi-album project inspired by The Lord of the Rings, using recurring motifs, shifting moods and vivid group interplay to evoke characters, landscapes and episodes rather than simply quote the novels. The result is adventurous and cinematic, but still firmly rooted in jazz improvisation. For listeners, it stands as a distinctive example of how 1970s Australian jazz could be expansive, literate and boldly programmatic.

 <!--
