Recorded for Verve in 1966 and issued in 1967, it pairs Montgomery’s lyrical single-note lines with Smith’s muscular Hammond B-3 drive, creating a sound that is both hard-swinging and deeply melodic. Backed by a tight rhythm section and produced by Creed Taylor, the album moves easily between bluesy groove and elegant post-bop refinement. It stands as one of the most admired documents of either artist and a classic example of organ-guitar interplay at its best.

Artist: Jimmy Smith, Wes Montgomery

Label: Verve Records – V6/8678

Format: LP, Album, Stereo

Units: 1

Country: US

Released: 1967

Genre:
          Jazz

Style:

            Post Bop

A1 Down By The Riverside
A2 Night Train
B1 James & Wes
B2 13 (Death March)
B3 Baby, It'S Cold Outside
