Issued in 1981, it brings together material from the group’s early years, including songs associated with Adolescent Sex, Quiet Life and Life in Tokyo, showing how their sound moved from restless, confrontational guitars to sleek electronic textures. As a snapshot of Japan’s development, the set is valuable less as a greatest-hits package than as a document of transformation, capturing the band at the point where new wave ambition began to harden into one of the most distinctive identities in British pop.

Artist: Japan

Label: Hansa International – 204 067

Format: LP, Compilation, Stereo

Units: 1

Country: Germany

Released: 1981

Genre:
          Pop & Rock

Style:

            Art Rock,

            Glam,

            Synth-Pop

A1 Adolescent Sex
A2 State Line
A3 Communist China
A4 Rhodesia
A5 Suburban Berlin
B1 Life In Tokyo
B2 European Son
B3 All Tomorrows Parties
B4 Quiet Life
B5 I Second That Emotion
