The new generation of young artists on Blue Note Records manages the feat of creating modern, acoustic jazz in the tradition of the label's famous historic recordings. But many of Blue Note's black musicians, such as Robert Glasper and Ambrose Akinmusire, are interested in more than jazz of the highest order; for them, music is also political and social commentary

Such is the case for alto saxophonist Immanuel Wilkins, who shined in 2019 on vibraphonist Joel Ross' multi-award-winning Blue Note album "KingMaker." With his own debut album "Omega", produced by Jason Moran and featuring a quartet with pianist Micah Thomas, bassist Daryl Johns and drummer Kweku Sumbry, Wilkins addresses the current complex situation of black America with ten impressive tracks - using the language of jazz.
