Ice-T – Rhyme Pays (coloured vinyl)
The debut album of Ice-T, the East Coast rapper who caused a sensation in the film "Breakdance". It went platinum in the USA and was the first step towards hardcore rap, which he was to continue to push forward on albums like "Body Count". Songs like "Sex" or "409" (in which all strong expressions are replaced by loud whistling!) were quite convincing, the songs still consist mainly of pure beats with minimalistic synth samples or scratches. The lyrics show an Ice-T that doesn't really dare to make use of strong expressions yet, but apart from that the usual ghetto-stories are already there.
