Brian Eno is usually credited with the fact that everyone who bought a Velvet Underground album went on to form a band. It is no less bold to assume that everyone involved in the production of electronic music has heard "No Pussyfooting" and "Evening Star." Indeed, there are few contemporary albums that can claim a similar influence as "No Pussyfooting" by Fripp & Eno.It can be argued that for the vast majority of the album's purchasers at the time of its original release in 1973, it was their first exposure to the small world of electronic music. It can further be argued that for most buyers it was not their last album of electronic music. The equipment used was primitive by today's standards. The ideas implemented were enormous by any standards. Many ideas from it were subsequently developed further by various musicians.Fripp & Eno were too busy as musicians themselves to exploit the possibilities themselves. Another album, "Evening Star," was released in 1975. There were other occasional collaborations, but no further recordings under the Fripp & Eno banner until the release of "The Equatorial Stars" in late 2004 as a limited release via the artists' websites, followed by the official release of the CD in 2005.The album was not released on vinyl until now. The album consists of seven soundscapes. The textures and atmospheres at the heart of each track shift subtly while leaving plenty of room for Fripp's guitar solos and sounds to evolve from the middle. With "The Equatorial Stars," Fripp & Eno redefine a musical realm they once helped launch.
