He began his career writing lyrics for Ice Cube’s former project, Da Lench Mob.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn 1991, with the help of his cousin, Del released his debut album, *I Wish My Brother George Was Here*, as an 18-year-old solo artist. The album became a commercial success, largely due to the hit single “Mistadobalina.” The title “I Wish My Brother George Was Here” is a reference to George Clinton, whose music had a significant influence on Del.
