David Michael Gordon "Davey" Graham (1940 - 2008) was an English folk and fingerstyle guitarist and composer. The Guitar Player was Davey Graham's first long-playing LP, having released his EP ¾ A. D. two years earlier.

This unique album combines his interesting and virtuoso guitar playing with excellent arrangements. With his guitar style he contributed to the musical changes in the early 1960s, when blues, rock and folk played an increasingly important role in the music scene. Davey Grahams switches to blues, jazz, folk, Arabic music and much more, often in the same song.

It is an essential album and one of the greatest acoustic instrumental records of the 1960s. The British guitar virtuoso inspired a multitude of artists such as Paul Simon, Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix. He combined different genres of music and proved to be one of the most important musical styles of the 20th century.
