Issued in 1980, the album shows why Grusin became such an influential figure in contemporary jazz: a composer-pianist with an ear for strong themes and a clean, accessible sound. The title track is the standout, but the set also moves confidently through pieces like Friends and Strangers and City Lights, combining studio finesse with rhythmic detail. As smooth jazz and jazz-funk were taking shape, Mountain Dance helped set the template for sophisticated crossover jazz that remained commercially and musically durable.

Artist: Dave Grusin

Label: Arista – L-37607

Format: LP, Album

Units: 1

Country: Australia

Released: 1980

Genre:
          Soundtracks

Style:

            Fusion

A1 Rag Bag
A2 Friends And Strangers
A3 City Lights
A4 Rondo - "If You Hold Out Your Hand"
B1 Mountain Dance
B2 Thanksong
B3 Captain Caribé
B4 Either Way
