Drawing on her landmark 1920s and early 1930s recordings, it captures the singer’s commanding tone, dramatic phrasing and unforced authority across blues and jazz material. Songs such as St. Louis Blues, Reckless Blues and Sinful Blues underline the emotional range that made her one of the defining voices of classic blues. Issued in 1971, the collection keeps Smith’s artistry in focus for later generations and highlights the depth of her influence on American popular music.\u003c\/p\u003e\n \n\n \n
