After various albums on Erased Tapes and most recently Ninja Tune, the US duo A Winged Victory For The Sullen is releasing their new work on the label of their member Adam Wiltzie, Artificial Pinearch Manufacturing. "Invisible Cities" is the soundtrack to a multimedia show of theater, music, dance, design and visuals, based on the novel of the same name by the Italian writer Italo Calvino from 1972, which premiered at the Manchester International Festival 2019 and is currently due to the Pandemic on hold.
The duo AWVFTS is now mentioned in the neoclassical / ambient / drone genre in the same breath as Max Richter, Jon Hopkins, Hauschka, Hildur Gudnadöttir and Tim Hecker. Adam Wiltzie is a founding member of the drone legends Stars Of The Lid and has written numerous film and TV scores ("Transformers: Dark Of The Moon", "Godzilla", "Whitney", "The Yellow Birds", "Nip / Tuck").
Dustin O'Halloran was a member of the indie rock band Dévics (Bella Union), published on Deutsche Grammophon and wrote the score for Sofia Coppola's "Marie Antoinette" and the TV series "Transparent", for which he received an Emmy Award .
