Released in 1973, the album applies Moog synthesiser textures to baroque works by Johann Sebastian Bach, turning contrapuntal detail into something vivid, precise and unexpectedly expressive. Following the huge success of Switched-On Bach, this sequel helped confirm that electronic instruments could handle classical repertoire with real authority, not novelty alone. Carlos’s meticulous programming and layered arrangements bring new colour to familiar pieces such as the Two-Part Inventions and Sheep May Safely Graze, making the record a significant bridge between classical tradition and early electronic music.

Genre: Electronic

Artist: Walter Carlos

Label: CBS, CBS Masterworks – SBR 235628

Format: LP, Album, Stereo

Units: 1

Country: Australia

Released: 1973

Genre:
          Electronic

Style:

            Modern Classical

Selections From Suite No. 2 In B Minor, BWV 1067
A2 Two-Part Invention In A Minor, Bwv 784
A3 Two-Part Invention In A Major, Bwv 783
A4 Sheep May Safely Graze, From "Cantata No. 208," Bwv 208
Suite From Anna Magdalena Notebook
Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 In D Major, BWV 1050

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1474/5258/files/OS0yMTk5LmpwZWc_ffa81c91-fe34-40b1-9964-98393fc0c40f.jpg?v=1786688987
walter-carlos-switched-on-bach-392551
Walter Carlos – Switched-On Bach (VG+/VG+) – LP, AU 1968

Condition: Second Hand

Ships from: Melbourne

Media: Very Good Plus (VG+)

Cover: Very Good Plus (VG+)

Description

Release details

Tracklist

Switched-On Bach is an LP by Walter Carlos from 1968 released on the CBS, CBS Masterworks label.

About this album

Switched-On Bach is a landmark electronic reimagining of Johann Sebastian Bach that helped bring synthesiser music into the mainstream. Created by Walter Carlos and released in 1968, it used the Moog synthesiser to transform Baroque counterpoint into something startlingly new, yet still recognisably Bach. The album became both a crossover success and a critical talking point, showing that electronic instruments could handle classical repertory with precision, wit and colour. Its unexpected popularity helped open the door for synthesiser-led music in both pop and serious experimental circles, making it one of the most influential debut statements in modern electronic music.

Artist: Walter Carlos

Label: CBS, CBS Masterworks – SBR - 235297

Format: LP, Album

Units: 1

Country: Australia

Released: 1968

Genre:
          Electronic

Style:

            Experimental,

            Modern Classical

A1 Sinfonia To Cantata No. 29
A2 Air On A G String
A3 Two-Part Invention In F Major
A4 Two-Part Invention In B-Flat Minor
A5 Two-Part Invention In D Minor
A6 Jesu, Joy Of Man'S Desiring
A7 Prelude And Fugue No. 7 In E-Flat Major
B1 Prelude And Fugue No. 2 In C Minor
B2 Chorale Prelude "Wachet Auf"
Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 In G Major

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1474/5258/files/MC0zOTkxLmpwZWc_9050813c-b56a-4d15-80a2-faaf9b7b171e.jpg?v=1793337954
