Vangelis is a Greek composer and performer of electronic music, best known for his Academy Award-winning score to the 1981 film Chariots of Fire. He has also composed soundtracks to several other films, including Blade Runner, 1492: Conquest of Paradise, and Alexander. He has released over 60 albums and has sold over 30 million records worldwide.

Vangelis's standout albums include Albedo 0.39 (1976), Heaven and Hell (1975), and China (1979). His most popular songs include "Chariots of Fire," "Conquest of Paradise," and "Blade Runner."

An interesting fact about Vangelis is that he is the only living composer to have been awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He was also awarded the Order of Honour from the Greek government in recognition of his achievements.
