  • The third of the remastered Echo & The Bunnymen albums is a remake of Porcupine, the band's third and most successful album - it charted at number 2 in the UK. The album was recorded at Trident Studios in London, Rockfield in South Wales and Amazon Studios in Liverpool. Ian Broudie, who is named "Kingbird" in the credits, was the producer.

Due to tensions within the band during the recording process, the album was rejected by Warner as "too dark and uncommercial". The band then decided to re-record the album and use the previous version as a draft. Shankar, who recorded the string instruments for the successful single "The Back Of Love", was brought back to the studio to give the rest of the album its bright, radiant note. During these days, the single "The Cutter" was created, which eventually became the band's first Top 10 hit.

The result of these new recordings is a much finer, more detailed sound that bridges the gap between Heaven Up Here ”and the next album“ Ocean Rain ”. The fundamental difference is that the early roughness has now been replaced by a more elaborate, fuller sound achieved by adding strings and percussions. The band not only found themselves musically, but also a new structure and sophistication without losing their mysterious aura.
