Other group members during its formation included guitarist John McLaughlin (who turned down Davis' offer to join his group since he felt he would more likely be able to play his own compositions with Williams) and Hammond organ innovator Larry Young, with ex-Cream bass player Jack Bruce joining in 1970.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eLifetime lasted just two years. McLaughlin left the group in 1970 in order to pursue his own career, and after  the group fell apart completely.
