The Stone Roses

The Stone Roses are an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1983. The original line-up consisted of vocalist Ian Brown, guitarist John Squire, bassist Mani, and drummer Reni. Their debut album, The Stone Roses (1989), was one of the most successful and influential records of the Madchester movement of the late 1980s and early 1990s. It was described as "one of the landmark albums of the '90s" by NME.

The Stone Roses' second album, Second Coming (1994), was more experimental and heavier than their first and featured a rougher, more guitar-driven sound. Although it was a commercial success, it didn't reach the heights of their first album and was less critically acclaimed.

Their most popular songs include "Fools Gold", "She Bangs the Drums", "I Wanna Be Adored" and "Love Spreads".

An interesting fact about the band is that they disbanded in 1996, only to reform in 2011 and tour extensively over the following years. They also have their own festival, the Stone Roses Festival, which takes place every year in Manchester.
