Terry Riley

Terry Riley is an American composer and performer of contemporary classical music, often credited with creating the minimalist movement in music. Born in 1935 in Colfax, California, Riley first studied classical music and composition at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. His early works featured tape loops, electronic sounds and improvisational structures, influencing a generation of composers and performers.

Riley's standout albums include A Rainbow in Curved Air (1969), Shri Camel (1979), and The Harp of New Albion (1987). His songs include "In C" (1964), "A Rainbow in Curved Air" (1969), and "G Song" (1982).

An interesting fact about Terry Riley is that he was a founding member of the experimental music group The Hub in the late 1960s. The Hub was an avant-garde collective which blended elements of classical, jazz, rock, and folk music in their performances.
