  • The debut album »Kinks« by the British rock band The Kinks. In addition to the Rolling Stones, Beatles and The Who, The Kinks were one of the most successful British bands in the 1960s and part of the »British Invasion«. They are ideally considered the forefathers of punk and brit pop. Together with one of the most important music producers of beat music - Shel Talmy - The Kinks recorded their first studio album »Kinks« at Pye Studios in 1964. The album also includes one of the big The Kinks singles, namely "You Really Got Me" (Top 10 of the UK and US charts). The singer Ray Davies wrote the song, on which Jon Lord (Deep Purple) and Jimmy Page (Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin) also worked.

    The Kinks were formed in 1963 but found prominence with their third single, featured on this album; "You Really Got Me" (released in 1964).

    Written by Ray Davies. It became an international hit, topping the charts in the United Kingdom and reaching the Top 10 in the United States, and still receives strong support and rotation to this very day. Consisting largely of covers and revamped traditional songs, the Kinks self-titled album was released on 2 October 1964, reaching number four on the UK chart. The group's fourth single, "All Day and All of the Night", another original hard rock tune, was released three weeks later, reaching number two in the United Kingdom.
