The jewel collectors of soul jazz have once again dug through the archives. Destination this time were the Caribbean islands between Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti, Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic. There they found 32 Mambo, Calypso, Goombay, Mento, Merengue, Cult and Compas tracks, which - as luckily their charming way is - they do not want to withhold from us. They present their result under the title "90 Degrees Of Shade. Hot Jump-Up Island Sounds From The Caribbean".

The album is released as a deluxe 2CD box with an oversized and usual informative booklet and as a double limited double LP with gatefold cover, 180-g vinyl and download code.

It features a hot brew of the 1950s and 60s. A time when many states in the Caribbean gained their independence and new musical styles were constantly being created. The publication is accompanied by the large-format illustrated book "90 Degrees Of Shade: 100 Years Of Photography In The Caribbean (With Foreword By Paul Gilroy)".
