Os Mutantes

Os Mutantes are a Brazilian psychedelic rock band formed in 1966 in São Paulo. The group's original lineup consisted of brothers Arnaldo Baptista and Sérgio Dias Baptista, and lead singer Rita Lee. They released their debut album, Os Mutantes, in 1968. It contained the songs “A Minha Menina” and “Bat Macumba”, which became huge hits in Brazil and abroad.

Over the course of their career, the band released six studio albums, as well as several live albums and compilations. Their standout albums include Os Mutantes (1968), A Divina Comédia ou Ando Meio Desligado (1970), Mutantes e Seus Cometas no País do Baurets (1971), and Tecnicolor (1972).

Notable songs include “Ando Meio Desligado”, “Baby”, “Panis et Circenses”, “A Minha Menina”, and “Bat Macumba”.

An interesting fact about Os Mutantes is that they have influenced numerous artists over the years, including David Byrne, Kurt Cobain, Beck, and Bjork. They were also featured in the 2007 documentary “Onde Esta Você?”, which chronicled their reunion after decades apart.
