New Wave
New Wave is a style of music that emerged in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It was a reaction to the more popular styles of rock music of the time, such as punk and disco. New Wave incorporated elements of punk, but with a more pop sound, incorporating synthesizers and electronic instruments. The genre was also heavily influenced by other genres, such as reggae, funk, and ska. New Wave was popularized by bands such as Blondie, The Cars, The B-52s, Talking Heads, and Devo. New Wave also had an impact on fashion and culture, and is still seen as an influence on modern music.
