Herbie Hancock – Mwandishi

With this album, which was recorded in a single session on New Year's Eve, he crosses genre boundaries. Unlike his earlier works, he gives space to electronic effects and thus expands his musical expression. Hancock's sextet is the most advanced ensemble he's played with. With this work he opens a new door for jazz music in general. The music on Mwandishi is beautifully atmospheric and the long tracks leave plenty of room for the band's improvisations. A fantastic song concept with tonal layers, meaning and expression.

Herbie Hancock is one of the most productive jazz pianists of the 20th century. He played with greats like Donald Byrd and Miles Davis. He has his own special style, which he constantly dynamizes through variations between electronic and acoustic sound. Basically, his work is characterized by great stylistic fidelity. Thus he supported almost every development in R & B, Funk and Jazz, whereby he remained original and unmistakable.
