Midnight Oil

Committed rock band led by the charismatic singer Peter Garrett, who is also active as a politician and promotes the rights of the aboriginal population. Formed in '75 and influenced by punk and American and English rock. Grows into one of Australia's best and best-known rock acts and also enjoys international success with DIESEL AND DUST, which includes the hit Beds Are Buming, and BLUE SKY MINING. SCREAM IN BLUE is a live album.

After a short break BREATHE follows in '96. In '97 they perform at festivals in the Czech Republic and Germany. Although commercially less successful, Midnight Oil keeps on dedicating themselves to charity in recent years. CAPRICORNIA is released in the Netherlands only a year after the Australian release. Midnight Oil's last performance is in Sydney on 29 January 2005 at a benefit event for tsunami victims. FLAT CHAT is a compilation.

In '08 comes DIESEL AND DUST, with a bonus DVD containing clips and footage from a tour Midnight Oil undertook in 1986 with the aboriginal musicians of The Warumpi Band. Shock-horror-rock band Ghostwriters, led by former Midnight Oil drummer Rob Hirst, will release the album POLITICAL ANIMAL in 2007.
