Lou Rawls

Lou Rawls was an American singer, songwriter, and actor who was active in the music industry for over five decades. He was known for his distinctive baritone voice and often performed jazz, blues, and soul music. Rawls was born in Chicago in 1933 and began singing in church choirs as a child. He joined the United States Army and sang with a traveling gospel group, the Sojourners, while in the service.

Rawls' career began to take off in the 1960s, when he released several successful albums, including Stormy Monday, Lou Rawls Live!, and Black and Blue. His most successful album, All Things in Time, released in 1976, featured the hit single "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine". Other memorable songs include "Dead End Street", "Love Is a Hurtin' Thing", and "Natural Man".

Rawls was also an actor, appearing in movies such as The Blues Brothers and Car Wash. He was a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and was awarded three Grammy Awards and two NAACP Image Awards.

An interesting fact about Lou Rawls is that he was a philanthropist and served as the national spokesman for the United Negro College Fund for over 25 years. He was inducted into the International Civil Rights Walk of Fame in 2004.
