Issued in 1982, it shows the Texas guitarist and singer sharpening his distinctive mix of swampy groove, barbed guitar and hard-edged vocal attack into songs that feel both traditional and contemporary. Copeland was already an acclaimed figure in modern blues by this point, and this album reflects the confidence of an artist working firmly in his own voice. Built on forceful originals and blues-based material, it captures the muscular, late-20th-century electric style that kept Copeland one of the genre’s most respected performers.

Artist: Johnny Copeland

Label: Rounder Australia – ROUNDA-1005

Format: LP, Album

Units: 1

Country: Australia

Released: 1983

Genre:
          Blues

Style:

            Electric Blues,

            Texas Blues

A1 Natural Born Believer
A2 Make My Home Where I Hang My Hat
A3 Devil'S Hand
A4 Cold Outside
A5 Love Utopia
B1 Boogie Woogie Nighthawk
B2 Honky Tonkin'
B3 Well Well Baby-La
B4 Old Man Blues
B5 Rock 'N' Roll Lilly

Albert Collins, Robert Cray, Johnny Copeland – Showdown! Released in 1985, the album plays like a friendly contest between three of the genre’s most distinctive guitarists, with each bringing a different feel: Collins’ biting tone, Cray’s smoother modern approach and Copeland’s hard-edged authority. Built on tight band interplay and deep blues roots, the record helped bring traditional Texas blues to a wider audience in the 1980s and earned strong critical respect for its chemistry rather than gimmickry. Its blend of swagger, restraint and shared craft makes it one of the era’s key blues team-ups.

Artist: Albert Collins, Robert Cray, Johnny Copeland

Label: Alligator Records, Avan-Guard Music – SVL 508

Format: LP, Album

Units: 1

Country: Australia

Released: 1985

Genre:
          Blues

Style:

            Texas Blues

A1 T-Bone Shuffle
A2 The Moon Is Full
A3 Lion'S Den
A4 She'S Into Something
A5 Bring Your Fine Self Home
B1 Black Cat Bone
B2 The Dream
B3 Albert'S Alley
B4 Blackjack
