John Cale is a Welsh musician, composer, and record producer who is best known for his work with the experimental rock band The Velvet Underground. He has released several solo albums since the 1970s and has collaborated with numerous other artists.

Cale's solo career began in 1972 with the release of the album Vintage Violence. His other notable solo albums include Fear (1974), Slow Dazzle (1975), Sabotage/Live (1979), and Honi Soit (1981). He also produced the albums The End (1974) by Nico, Transformer (1972) by Lou Reed, and Forever Changes (1967) by Love.

Cale's most acclaimed albums include Music for a New Society (1982) and Words for the Dying (1989). His standout songs include "Fear Is a Man's Best Friend," "Big White Cloud," and "Hallelujah."

An interesting fact about John Cale is that he is the only surviving member of the original Velvet Underground lineup. He is also a published poet and has written numerous books and plays.
