Hiatus Kaiyote Vinyl Records

Hiatus Kaiyote is an Australian neo-soul quartet from Melbourne, consisting of lead vocalist and guitarist Nai Palm, drummer Perrin Moss, bassist Paul Bender and keyboardist Simon Mavin. The group formed in 2011 and released their debut album Tawk Tomahawk in 2012. Their second album Choose Your Weapon (2015) was critically acclaimed and reached #1 on the ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) charts, making it the first ever independent release to do so. The album was also nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best R&B Performance category for their single "Breathing Underwater". Their most recent album, Borderland Tapes (2020), continues the group’s journey through neo-soul and their signature sound of eclectic, soulful sounds. Standout tracks include "Get Sun", "Red Room" and "Molasses". An interesting fact about Hiatus Kaiyote is that lead singer Nai Palm's parents are both members of the indigenous Australian group, The Meriam Mir. Nai Palm has used her music to explore and represent her Aboriginal heritage, with the band's music often featuring Aboriginal languages, stories, and themes.
