Garage Rock
Garage rock is a raw, often unpolished style of rock and roll music that emerged in the mid-1960s. The sound is characterized by simple song structures, loud distorted guitars, and a DIY aesthetic. Its roots can be traced back to the early days of rock and roll, with its basic rockabilly and surf rock elements, as well as doo-wop and R&B. The genre was popularized in the mid-1960s by bands such as The Kingsmen, The Sonics, and The Standells. Garage rock has since gone on to influence the punk rock, new wave, and alternative rock genres.
