Charlie Haden

Charlie Haden was an American jazz double bassist and composer who was born in Shenandoah, Iowa in 1937. He was known for his warm and soulful playing, and for being a key contributor to the development of free jazz. He was also a founding member of the influential Ornette Coleman Quartet in the late 1950s.

Haden's standout albums include the 1959 Ornette Coleman Quartet's album "The Shape of Jazz to Come", 1970's "Liberation Music Orchestra" and 1989's "Closeness". His most popular songs include "Song for Ché", "Ramblin'", "Silence" and "The Long Journey Home".

An interesting fact about Charlie Haden is that he was a child actor in the 1940s, appearing in various radio and television shows. He also had a brief singing career, performing with his siblings in the "Haden Family" group.
