Boogie Woogie

Boogie Woogie is an American musical style which emerged in the 1920s and 1930s. It is an uptempo piano blues style which is characterized by repetitive and syncopated bass lines and a driving beat. The style originated from the piano playing of people such as Cow Cow Davenport, Pinetop Smith, and Jimmy Yancey. It was popularized in the 1940s by such artists as Amos Milburn, Albert Ammons, and Pete Johnson. It has since gone on to influence a number of genres, such as jazz, rhythm and blues, rock and roll, and country.
