Issued in 1960, it presented a vivid, rhythm-driven blend of chants, drumming and call-and-response performances that felt both ceremonial and immediate. Olatunji’s musical vision helped expand Western pop and jazz audiences’ awareness of African traditions, and the album’s influence reached far beyond its original folk and world context. Its enduring reputation rests on the power of its rhythmic drive, its cultural importance and the way it turned percussion into a headline attraction.

Artist: Babatunde Olatunji

Label: Coronet – KLLS 1639

Format: LP, Album, Stereo

Units: 1

Country: Australia

Released: 1960

Genre:
          Global

Style:

            African

A1 Akiwowo (Chant To The Trainman)
A2 Oya (Primitive Fire)
A3 Odun De!
